USS Bullhead (SS-332) Memorial - July 28, 2020



Visit New Mexico's lost WWII submarine memorial in Albuquerque close to the airport for the USS Bullhead (SS-332) which sank August 6, 1945

The USS Bullhead was the last U.S. Navy vessel sunk while in combat

This submarine memorial was dedicated on April 7, 1979

The memorial features three inert World War II era torpedoes & two plaques

To all submariners on eternal patrol, may God rest their gallant souls

82 men perished aboard the USS Bullhead when it sank

The Bullhead was on only its third patrol when it was lost

A Mitsubishi Ki-51 reported two direct hits on a submarine on its final day

The park was once part of Kirtland Air Force Base
